As an Engineering Manager, you will manage the frontend engineering team at Therma, working on our innovative energy management system (EMS). You will guide, mentor, and assist the team, while contributing directly to the code, doing code review, and ensuring your team is continuously learning and delivering.
Furthermore, you will analyze existing issues in our applications and recommend adjustments in the form of architecture designs and implementation plans to resolve software issues and ensure application performance is at an optimum and meets our standards. You will stay abreast of new technologies and be responsible for creating, maintaining, and enforcing code standards for our UIs.
As a successful member of the engineering team, you will be able to empathize with our users and make decisions according to our user-focused and data-driven approach to developing applications.
This role reports directly to the Senior Director of Engineering and is based out of our SF Headquarters. The company prefers that the person works from the SF office at least 2 times a week.
Objectives
- Provide technical guidance to other members of the team
- Implement product features to create world-class user-focused experiences
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and advancements
- Develop standard and scalable code that can serve as the foundation of future projects
- Perform tasks accurately and up to our quality standard
- Communicate issues and blockers with the development and management team
Responsibilities
- Mentor the javascript developer team on best practices and provide assistance on technical work
- Improving the performance of our existing applications
- Investigating software-related complaints and issues and making necessary adjustments or bug fixes to ensure optimal software performance and stability
- Regularly attending team meetings to discuss projects, brainstorm ideas, and put forward solutions to new projects and issues
- Collaborating closely with our Backend, DevOps, and QA development teams
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and develop and present plans to the management team for implementing new technologies
- Monitor development progress and communicate with the team to resolve issues in a timely manner and inform management about recent developments of blockers
- Monitor and prioritize blockers found during regression
- interact with product managers and designers, to provide feedback and ensure alignment between your team and the rest of the organization.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering/computer science or related field
- 8+ years of experience building and maintaining frontend web applications
- Prior experience working on energy management systems (EMS) or similar products.
- Proven experience in software development methodologies
- Proven experience building complex web systems
- Ability to self-prioritize according to quarterly business goals
Compensation
- $160,000 – $200,000
- 0.10% – 0.20% equity
