At Kraken Grid, we’re passionate about building software that solves problems. As we expand customer deployments, we’re seeking a SRE to empower users with high availability and stellar performance level to pursue their missions. Specifically, we are searching for someone able to understand, use, maintain, challenge and evolve our code base of automation processes, and be able to balance priorities related to our company, our customers, innovation, and production stability. We are also looking for someone who enjoys collaborating with a cross-functional team to develop real-world solutions and positive user experiences for every interaction.
What you'll do
- Run the production environment by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health
- Measure and optimise system performance, with an eye toward pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, and innovating for continual improvement
- Provide primary operational support and engineering for multiple large-scale distributed software applications
- Handle issues reported by our monitoring, reactively and preventively,
- Perform new deployments and updates of software, on servers and IoT devices,
- Partner with development teams to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures
- Improve and extend our automation scripts,
- Help maintain our SaaS and on-prem infrastructure layer.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent,
- 2 years of professional experience in a similar role,
- Hands-on and analytical approach to work,
- Curious, eager to learn,
- Not shy tackling tedious tasks, and eager to automate them,
- Flexible, good communicator,
- Initiative spirit, self-organised and attention to detail,
- Proactive approach to identifying problems, performance bottlenecks, and areas for improvement
- Python 3 (must, “typing” is a nice to have),
- Bash (must),
- Linux sysadmin (very proficient),
- Git (must),
- Docker exposure (must),
- Networking fundamentals (must),
- Fluent in English and French.
