About Octopus Electroverse
We’re making electric vehicle ownership as smart and as simple as possible, by building the giant, virtual charging platform of the future.
In just over two years, Octopus Electroverse has grown to become one of the largest eMobility players in Europe, with over 650,000 connected electric vehicle chargers and a customer ecosystem spanning web, iOS, Android, CarPlay, Android Auto & Automotive OS, and more.
But it’s just the start: we’re busy launching in new countries, working with more automotive and tech partners, building exciting new features at scale, and creating the integrated charging experiences of the future - all in the name of making public EV charging super simple for customers.
Electroverse is a multifunctional team made up of product, development, commercial, operations, marketing, partnerships and more - all focused together on making Octopus the go-to name in EV charging. And we’re looking for smart individuals with an interest in the space who can help us make it happen.
We are seeking a confident UX/UI designer with a proven track record of delivering innovative, customer-centric solutions across various platforms. This Electroverse role not only calls for expertise in shaping exceptional user experiences but also offers the opportunity to mentor and inspire our junior team members.

What you'll do

  • Collaborate closely with our cross-functional teams such as product management, engineering, marketing, and partnerships to ensure we achieve world-class design solutions that meet the user needs and business requirements
  • Take ownership of the design vision and champion its seamless integration across all areas of the Electroverse
  • Share designs for feedback early & often and offer design feedback to other team members
  • Advocate for user-centric design principles and facilitate workshops, user interviews, usability testing, and discovery activities to understand user needs, behaviors, and pain points
  • Collaborate and provide management and mentorship to junior designers
  • Refine and add to our design process documentation, and onboarding materials, and try out new design processes with the team where possible
  • Communicate with both technical and non-technical colleagues, successfully defining roadmaps for projects with big-picture strategy
  • Staying updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and design tools/methodologies

What you'll need

  • At least 4 years of professional experience designing digital products
  • Experience working with Design Systems and component libraries
  • High proficiency with Figma - It is our main design tool. Additionally, Adobe suite; Illustrator & Photoshop
  • Knowledge on different design processes, knowing what steps are needed and which ones can be skipped based on the specific project or problem you are working on
  • To be able to clearly communicate and motivate design decisions to team members and stakeholders
  • Attention to detail when designing, being precise and ensuring something is done well rather than fast but poorly
  • The ability to focus on user needs and know how to improve usability/UX
  • Focus on accessibility and inclusion when designing components, interfaces and interactions
  • To have a pragmatic and flexible attitude: you understand that sometimes there are restrictions or unknowns imposed by technical realities that must be considered
  • Have at least a basic understanding of/experience on:
  • Developer frameworks; iOS, android, Bootstrap, React HTML and CSS to be able to communicate your designs with devs and find workarounds when feasibility issues occur
  • The trends in UX/design/mobile design patterns
  • Knowledge of After Effects and/or Lottie Animations is a plus
  • Usage of project management software like Asana or Jira, knowledge of the agile process and organising work with tasks
  • Knowledge of accessibility and designing for accessibility
  • Using analytics tools (Google Analytics, Hotjar…)
  • Performing user interviews and user testing
