Here at Octopus Electric Vehicles (OEV) we’re wildly ambitious about accelerating our mission to become market leaders in EV leasing. We’re focused on not just how we can create a flawless experience for every customer, but also how we can disrupt the market and transition every GB driver to electric.
Our design system, Mosaic, is in its early stages and we're looking for an experienced UI developer to join our growing development team. Working closely with designers and developers, you'll help scale up how we build digital products for the many, diverse users of Octopus EV's products.
What you'll do
- Work closely with both Product Designers and Front-End Developers on our design system
- Work independently, as well as collaboratively with the wider team
- Help set the vision and strategy for the design system as we roll out updated designs and adopt new concepts like design tokens, themes and more
- Help to evolve and define how UI components are built for our products
- Ensure that components are accessible, responsive, and optimised for performance across multiple platforms and devices
- Collaborate with other cross-functional teams to integrate the design system into our products
- Develop and maintain documentation for the design system, including design principles, guidelines, and component libraries
What you'll need
- Highly organised with effective time management skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- 2+ years of experience working in either a UI development or product design role
- Can write solid, semantic HTML markup with a strong focus on accessibility
- Have experience writing CSS with a focus on modularity, flexibility, and compatibility
- An understanding of JavaScript frameworks, particularly React/Next.js
- Experience of testing across browsers and devices to ensure the UI is functional and accessible on a wide range of desktops, mobiles, and tablets
- Experience working within Figma, and a clear understanding of autolayout
- It would be beneficial if you had:
-Prior experience working on a design system
-Familiarity with TypeScript
-An understanding of more advanced Figma features such as components, assigning properties, branching and variables
-Experience with common design systems tools, such as, but not limited to Storybook, Chromatic, and Zeroheight
